TO Dublin.
Route: Doolin-Lisdoonvarna-Kilfenora-Corofin-Gort-Loughrea-Dublin
160 miles (4 hrs.)
This is the adventurous way to Dublin. It uses extremely narrow roads for the first 40 miles or so. If you are not comfortable driving on such roads or it is night time then it might be better to pick one of the other routes.
From Dalys, turn left at the end of the laneway. Pass O'Connor's on the left.
Don't call in or you may end up postponing your journey for another day. Then again, maybe do call in!
Over the bridge and past Doolin Activity Centre. Turn right up the hill at the first cross roads.
Turn Left at the cross roads with shop and petrol pumps.
Straight through next junction, don't turn left into Lisdoonvarna but continue straight on and follow signs for Kilfenora.
At Kilfenora (10 miles from Doolin) turn left signposted Corofin.
On the main street in Corofin (17 miles from Doolin) turn left - signposted Gort. If you cross the narrow bridge in Corofin you have gone to far. At approx 1 mile from Corofin, turn left. The section of road between Corofin and Gort is very narrow so take it easy and enjoy the scenery. This is my favourite part of the journey!
At Gort (35 miles from Doolin) turn left towards the square. At the square turn right onto the main Galway-Ennis road (signposted Ennis).
About 500 yards turn left - signposted Loughrea.
At Loughrea, turn left, then right onto main Galway-Dublin road. The rest should be plain sailing!
