ACTIVITIES...The Cliffs of MoherBeginning in Doolin and rising to a height of over 200 metres the Cliffs of Moher are one of the most impressive sights in Europe. The usual viewing place is near O'Brien's Tower where the cliffs are at their highest. See www.cliffsofmoher.ie.
The BurrenThe Burren, derived from gaelic meaning 'stony place', is a limestone landscape like no other in Ireland. Described by some as a "moonscape" and by others at "the fertile rock" it has a wealth of archeological sites. Doolin is an ideal base for touring the burren region. Doolin CaveDoolin Cave is one of Europe's most compelling cave attractions. See “The Great Stalactite” It is a great opportunity to see such a large free hanging stalactite anywhere in the world. www.doolincave.ie Garden VisitDoolin Garden is the contemporary garden of designer Matt O’ Connell with hidden sections or mini gardens, some of which are traditional. The garden surrounds an award winning house which was built in 1995 when the garden started. The variety of over 250 plants for sale in the nursery are propagated from plants in the garden so mature versions can be seen. All plants have been propagated outdoors and are totally hardy. Free admission. Donations to Doolin Rescue Service welcome. www.doolingarden.com. Horse ridingHorse riding is available right next door and offers daily guided trails with spectacular views. Pitch and puttThere is a really nice Pitch and putt course just 5 minutes walk from Daly's House. GolfWe are twenty minutes drive from Lahinch golf club with its world famous championship course and the more gentle Castle course. SurfingClare offers some of the best surfing conditions in the world. There is a monster wave at “Aill Na Searrach” under the Cliffs of Moher. There is gentler surfing at Lahinch and Fanore beaches. CyclingThis is an ideal way to explore the area. Bike hire is also available in the village. FishingThere is excellent shore angling in Doolin and further north on the road towards Fanore. PubsDoolin has four fine traditional Irish music pubs, with live sessions seven nights a week. RestaurantsThere is a selection of restaurants in the area.
