The Cliffs of Moher

Beginning in Doolin and rising to a height of over 200 metres the Cliffs of Moher are one of the most impressive sights in Europe. The usual viewing place is near O'Brien's Tower where the cliffs are at their highest. See www.cliffsofmoher.ie.
Another option is to take a boat trip from Doolin Pier (5 mins from Daly's House) and view the cliffs from underneath. See Cliffs of Moher cruises and obrienline.com.

The Burren

The Burren, derived from gaelic meaning 'stony place', is a limestone landscape like no other in Ireland. Described by some as a "moonscape" and by others at "the fertile rock" it has a wealth of archeological sites. Doolin is an ideal base for touring the burren region.

The Aran Islands

Doolin pier is five minutes from Daly's House with a choice of ferries to the Aran Islands. See Doolin2Aran Ferries and obrienline.com.

Doolin Cave

Doolin Cave is one of Europe's most compelling cave attractions. See “The Great Stalactite” It is a great opportunity to see such a large free hanging stalactite anywhere in the world. www.doolincave.ie

Garden Visit

Doolin Garden is the contemporary garden of designer Matt O’ Connell with hidden sections or mini gardens, some of which are traditional. The garden surrounds an award winning house which was built in 1995 when the garden started. The variety of over 250 plants for sale in the nursery are propagated from plants in the garden so mature versions can be seen. All plants have been propagated outdoors and are totally hardy. Horse riding

Horse riding is available right next door and offers daily guided trails with spectacular views.

Pitch and putt

There is a really nice Pitch and putt course just 5 minutes walk from Daly's House.

Golf

We are twenty minutes drive from Lahinch golf club with its world famous championship course and the more gentle Castle course.

Surfing

Clare offers some of the best surfing conditions in the world. There is a monster wave at “Aill Na Searrach” under the Cliffs of Moher. There is gentler surfing at Lahinch and Fanore beaches.

Cycling

This is an ideal way to explore the area. Bike hire is also available in the village.

Fishing

There is excellent shore angling in Doolin and further north on the road towards Fanore.

Pubs

Doolin has four fine traditional Irish music pubs, with live sessions seven nights a week.

Restaurants

There is a selection of restaurants in the area. Experience the best of local cuisine served by award winning chefs. In addition all the pubs in Doolin serve excellent fare throughout the day until 9.00 in the evening.

Shopping

There is a wonderful selection of craft shops in the area. There are also a couple of music shops where you can source music by our local musicians.
